Preparation for installation

Introduction

Any KHAI-MEDICA computer complex is the device (EEG, spirograph, rheograph), cables and electrodes, plus software on a PC for recording, analysis and storage.

Install in this order:

• Preparation.
• Connect the device to a free USB port.
• Install the driver.
• Install the complex software and related components.
• Licensing.

First determine the Windows architecture and which complexes you need.

x86 and x64 specifics

Software ships as separate x86 and x64 packages. It needs Microsoft Access Database Engine.

If other software on the PC needs a specific Access Database Engine build, installing a different architecture will break it.

Recommendations:

1. If Access Engine is not installed: for multi-hour recordings on x64, use x64; otherwise prefer x86.
2. If Access Engine is already installed, install KHAI-MEDICA software of the same architecture.

Equipment installation

Before connecting, check the ground loop and fully disconnect the computer from mains.

• Connect the device to a free USB port.
• When Windows reports new hardware, point it to the universal driver drv.zip.

Driver notes on 64-bit Windows

If Windows refuses an uncertified driver with our PID:

1. Update driver → browse my computer.
2. Let me pick from a list → Have disk.
3. Point to any driver *.inf file.
4. Uncheck “Show compatible hardware”.
5. Manufacturer FTDI on the left, first item on the right.
6. If Windows warns, continue anyway.

Software installation

Complex software

• Uninstall the previous version before installing a new one.
• If several complexes share a PC (REOCOM and SPIROCOM), update them together: they share a core.
• Run the online installer and select the systems you need.
• If database creation fails after setup, install Microsoft Access Database Engine.

Access Database Engine on x64

The clean option is Office x64. If Office x86 is already installed, Access Engine x64 will not install. Options:

1. Remove Office x86 and install x64.
2. Remove Office x86, install Access Engine x64, then reinstall Office x86.
3. Uninstall our x64 software and install the x86 build.

Equipment binding (licensing)

License request

• Connect the device; the indicator LED should light.
• First run: create a database, register one patient and “record a new visit”, even if a license error appears.
• Menu “?” — “About” → “To file”. Save the data.
• If there is a “Lic template” button, save that too.
• Send the files to KHAI-MEDICA via the contacts page.

License installation

The license is installed separately for each Windows user.

1. Start the program with the device connected.
2. Menu “?” — “About” → “Install license”.
3. Point to the received file and restart the program.
